Farewell But Not Goodbye!

In the mountain surrounding Shree Sunkoshi Basic School, nestled in the heart of Limi, a beacon of dedication and love for education has shone brightly for the past seven years. Nandock Tshering Tamang, a 27-year-old Tibetan Language teacher, has left an indelible mark on the community, from the youngest children to the mothers and school authorities. Since 2018, his journey with Aatmiya has been hard work, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his roots.

Nandock’s story is one of remarkable dedication. When winter cloaked the village in snow, closing the school, it was Nandock who kept the spirit of learning alive. His tireless efforts ensured that education continued despite the harshest conditions. He has truly been the most hardworking teacher, going above and beyond to ensure his students never miss out.

In May 2024, Nandock decided to leave his teaching position and explore new horizons. Reflecting on his journey, he shared his motivations and heartfelt gratitude. “I completed my schooling in India and returned home in my early 20s,” he reminisced. “When I came back, I was determined to give back to my community, ensuring that the children of Limi could study right here in our village.”

Nandock’s return to Limi was not without challenges. He missed his childhood, not being in the community, not being with people who spoke his language. Adapting to his home once again was a struggle, but his determination never wavered. He expressed profound gratitude to Aatmiya for trusting him with the teaching position and helping him grow both personally and professionally.
